Put your thinking caps on!

This is fun!

Four golfers named Mr. Black, Mr. White, Mr. Brown and Mr. Blue were competing in a tournament. The caddy didn’t know their names, so he asked them.

One of them, Mr. Brown, told a lie.

  • The 1st golfer said “The 2nd Golfer is Mr. Black.”

  • The 2nd golfer said “I am not Mr. Blue!”

  • The 3rd golfer said “Mr. White? That’s the 4th golfer.”

  • And the 4th golfer remained silent.

Which one of the golfers is Mr. Blue?

Hints for Solving the Puzzle:

Hint 1: Start by considering the implications of Mr. Brown telling a lie. This means that his statement cannot be true. Use this information to analyze the statements made by the others.

Hint 2: Analyze the first golfer’s statement about the second golfer being Mr. Black. If this statement is true or false, how does it affect the other identities, especially considering the lie told by Mr. Brown?

Hint 3: Consider the second golfer’s denial of being Mr. Blue. What does this imply about his actual identity, especially in relation to the statement made by the third golfer?

Hint 4: The third golfer’s identification of the fourth golfer as Mr. White can lead you to significant deductions about all the golfers’ identities. What if this statement were true? What if it were false?

Hint 5: The silence of the fourth golfer is also a clue. Why might this golfer choose to remain silent, and how does this help confirm or deny the statements of the other three?

By logically analyzing the implications of each statement and considering Mr. Brown’s lie, you can methodically determine who must be Mr. Blue among the four golfers.
